Radiohead Planning Surprise Protest Concert?
Rockers Radiohead have sent fans into a frenzy amid rumors they will perform a surprise show on Friday afternoon during an economic rally in New York.
Protesters have set up camp in lower Manhattan as part of the ongoing Occupy Wall Street campaign, rallying against social inequality.
A host of celebrities and social activists including Susan Sarandon, rap mogul Russell Simmons and documentary maker Michael Moore have shown their support for the cause by making appearances, and now Radiohead look set to add their voices to the campaign by allegedly planning a special show in the heart of the Financial District.
In a post on Twitter.com, Simmons writes, "rumor is that Radiohead will be playing at #OccupyWallStreet rally at Liberty Sq., NYC at 4PM TODAY!"
The Creep hit-makers have played a handful of recent low-key live shows to promote their latest album The King of Limbs, and they shunned arena gigs this week to perform two last-minute concerts at the intimate Roseland Ballroom in New York.
