N-Dubz star Tulisa Contostavlos feared she was hated by half of Britain after she was subjected to a barrage of abuse for taking up a judging role on The X Factor.
The singer confirmed earlier this year she would be acting as a judge and mentor on Simon Cowell's hit singing contest while her hip-hop group is on hiatus.
However, she was stunned when the news she would be replacing beloved judges Cheryl Cole and Dannii Minogue provoked a barrage of criticism from die-hard fans of the show.
She tells British magazine You, "I was getting tons of abuse. I felt like at least 50 per cent of the nation hated me... If you're not an N-Dubz fan, you're not going to be a Tulisa fan, so I expected abuse. But I didn't know it was going to be at that level.
"It was intense: 'How dare you be replacing Cheryl or Dannii?', 'You're a f**king whore'. The main stigma was 'chav' (underclass). 'She's not classy, she's not a lady, she's a gobby (outspoken) chav.'"
