Taylor Lautner Twilight star Taylor Lautner has fallen victim to internet pranksters who posted his picture on a fake magazine cover over the holidays.

The online jokers mocked up an issue of People with a picture of Lautner and the strapline "Out & Proud," promising to reveal false details about the actor's sexuality.

However, a representative for the publication has condemned the cover as a forgery and dismissed the alleged revelations, telling it is "absolutely fake".

Hip-hop mogul Russell Simmons fell for the prank and wrote a congratulatory message to Lautner on his page, before adding, "Disappointed that people would joke about someone coming out about their sexuality."

"Let Taylor Lautner be whoever he wants to be..."
