Safe House A former police officer is attempting to end Denzel Washington and Ryan Reynolds' run at the top of the box office by launching a lawsuit against the producers of their hit thriller "Safe House."

Retired Chicago, Illinois cop Marty Christopher Lawson is requesting an injunction to stop Universal executives from further distributing the movie, which hit the top of the film charts last week.

He claims the plot of and characters in the film were stolen from his book, "Truth or Treason," which detailed his efforts to uncover an alleged police conspiracy.

Lawson insists the movie has caused him "pain and suffering".
