Joe Francis Threatens To Sue Over Madonna Song Title

February 28th, 2012 10:55am EST

Joe Francis Filmmaker Joe Francis is threatening to take legal action against Madonna over the name of her upcoming single, even though the pop superstar tweaked the title following allegations of copyright infringement.

The Girls Gone Wild founder's lawyers fired off a cease and desist letter to the Material Girl after hearing a track from her new album MDNA was called the same as his saucy video empire.

Francis insisted Madonna needed to negotiate an immediate licensing agreement for the use of his trademark, or face legal action, and the singer seemed to take heed by changing the name of the song to Girl Gone Wild.

However, the soft porn mogul is still not happy and has warned he could still sue over the matter.

He tells TMZ.com, "Clearly her label was trying to avoid legal action surrounding the song... But (the new title) is still infringement as far as the law is concerned, and we have been in touch with Madonna's people in an effort to resolve this issue."

Madonna has shown off the new artwork for the track, which features her posing suggestively in a very revealing bra.
