Alan Thicke Wants To Educate Kirk Cameron

Alan Thicke has addressed his one-time onscreen son Kirk Cameron's controversial anti-gay remarks by suggesting the former child star needs some new reading material.
The former "Growing Pains" star, now an evangelical Christian, spoke out against gays and lesbians during an interview on CNN's Piers Morgan Tonight on Friday stating that he thought homosexuality was "unnatural" and "detrimental and ultimately destructive to so many of the foundations of civilisation."
His comments upset gay rights activists and a representative for the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) was quick to condemn Cameron's views.
Over the weekend, several stars - gay and straight - attacked Cameron and on Monday, his former TV dad weighed in with his thoughts via Twitter and attacked the star's religious teachings.
Thicke wrote, "I'm getting him some new books. The Old Testament simply can't be expected to explain everything."
Tracy Gold, who played Cameron's "Growing Pains" sister, also took to Twitter to distance herself from Cameron's comments.
She wrote, "I am a strong supporter of the #LGBT Community, and I believe in equal rights for all."
Modern Family star Jesse Tyler Ferguson, rocker Nikki Sixx and Roseanne Barr also publicly attacked Cameron, with Barr suggesting he was "an accomplice to murder with his hate speech."
