John Mayer Serenades Date With 'Fifty Shades Of Grey' Song

John Mayer recently attempted to impress a potential date by improvising a song using a page of text from erotic novel Fifty Shades Of Grey.

The musician, who has dated Jessica Simpson and Jennifer Aniston, found out a woman he was interested in had E. L. James' bestselling book on her Kindle e-reader, so he tried to woo her by putting the words to music.

He tells Jimmy Fallon, "I was trying to impress her, and she had (the book) on her Kindle. And so I said, 'I'm going to sing it to you.' So I sang her one of the pages of Fifty Shades of Grey."

However, the stunt failed to have the desired effect: "She fell to the ground... laughing."
