'Ice Age' Dethrones 'Spider-Man' At Weekend Box Office

Ice Age Continental Drift "Ice Age: Continental Drift," the fourth film in the animated franchise, knocked "The Amazing Spider-Man" from the number-one slot at the weekend box office. The film grossed $46 million, while the superhero epic took in $35 million. Mark Wahlberg's "Ted" came in third place with $22.1 million.
In "Ice Age," Scrat's acorn obsession sparks a continental catastrophe that sends Manny (Ray Romano), Diego (Denis Leary), and Sid (John Leguizamo) on an epic adventure involving pirates and an unexpected reunion.
Earlier this month, "Ice Age" shattered box office records around the world due to a $78 million weekend opening. The movie scored the biggest opening weekend ever in Argentina, Colombia, Peru and Chile, and the biggest debut for an animated movie in Norway, Sweden, Ecuador and Bolivia.
