8 Embarrassing Celebrity Arrests
August 9th, 2012 1:00pm EDT
It's difficult enough getting arrested when you only have your friends and family to worry about. But when you're famous, the whole world learns about your indiscretions.
Earlier this week country star Randy Travis was arrested in Dallas, Texas, on suspicion of driving under the influence (DUI). Travis was completely naked at the time of his arrest, and reportedly threatened to kill the Texas troopers who took him into custody.
His mug shot (above) shows him with a black eye and dried blood on his face. Sadly, it's Travis' second arrest this year. In February, he was booked in Dallas public intoxication in front of a Baptist church.
Check out some other embarrassing celebrity arrests...
In 2008, Shia LaBeouf was arrested for refusing to leave a Walgreen's in Chicago. He later confessed he was searching for pimple cream, was mocked by a security guard, and left. He later returned to buy cigarettes, but he bought gummy bears instead. He had to return a third time for his smokes. LaBeouf was charged with misdemeanor criminal trespassing. He later told David Letterman he was "pretty wasted."
Randy Travis isn't the only star who likes partying in the buff. In 1999, police arrested Matthew McConaughey in Austin, Texas, after a neighbor complained about loud music coming from his house. The actor was charged with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. The best part? Police arrested him while he was playing bongos - naked. In 2008, the actor told Playboy magazine, "I love playing drums naked. Who doesn't like comfort and music?" So perhaps the incident wasn't too embarrassing for the star.
In 1995, British actor Hugh Grant, who was dating model/actress Elizabeth Hurley at the time, was busted in Hollywood after police found prostitute Divine Brown, ahem, pleasuring him.
In 2002, Steve-O was arrested in Houma, Louisiana, for performing a stunt that involved stapling his scrotum to his thigh. He was arrested on obscenity and assault charges in Los Angeles after a warrant was issued from Louisiana. Of course, the "Jackass" star was probably completely unphased by his arrest.
Paul Reubens, also known as Pee Wee Herman, was arrested in 1991 at a porn theater for pleasuring himself in public. He paid a $50 fine and performed community service for the crime.
Fred Willard was arrested in 2012 for allegedly committing a lewd act in a Hollywood adult movie theater.
In 2002, Nick Nolte was arrested for driving under the influence (DUI) near Los Angeles, but what really made the incident embarassing was his infamous mug shot. The actor was photographed in a colorful Hawaiian shirt with wild hair.
