NCIS Network bosses are in talks to develop a second spin-off series of hit crime show NCIS.

The police drama about the country's Naval Criminal Investigative Service, which stars Mark Harmon and Michael Weatherly, premiered in 2003 and has since become one of the most successful international dramas.

TV chiefs at CBS launched an off-shoot of the program called NCIS: LA, featuring Chris O'Donnell and LL Cool J, in 2009 and now executive producer Shane Brennan has been tapped to write a two-part episode for the show, which could serve as another spin-off if it is well-received by fans.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the premise will focus on a new team of mobile agents working to solve cases throughout the nation.
