Barbara Walters Shocked By Lindsay Lohan Interview Snub
Barbara Walters has spoken of her surprise upon discovering Lindsay Lohan would be sitting for an interview with Jay Leno after pulling out of a TV chat with her last week.
The actress agreed to sit down for a candid talk with Walters on her news show 20/20, but axed her appearance at the last minute. Lohan's team then booked the star a slot on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno on November 20th, and Walters has now admitted she was stunned by the turn of events.
Explaining the fiasco on TV series The View, the reporter revealed publicists told her Lohan was not up to sitting for an interview, and insists she would have been more understanding if they had been straight with her before signing up for a segment with Leno.
She told her The View co-hosts, "My interview with Lindsay is cancelled. She has new PR people, (a) very well known group who we do business with all the time... (I ask) 'Why is it cancelled?' 'Lindsay isn't up to it.' Well, she has a lot of problems and it was just one more and I said, 'Poor girl, you know I hope when she feels like it we'll do it.'
"But then I saw today that Lindsay Lohan is sitting for an interview with Jay Leno. If they'd said to me, 'You know, Barbara, she isn't up to the kind of questions you might ask' - though most of them were comparing her to Elizabeth Taylor: both child stars, both aggressive mothers, etc., then it would have been a wonderful interview."
"She could have set the record straight. If they had told me that, I wouldn't feel quite as disappointed as I do today."
