The hit CW series "The Vampire Diaries" is getting a spin-off called "The Originals." The series will focus on Joseph Morgan's character Klaus Mikaelson as he returns to New Orleans, Louisiana, to reunite with his protege.
Also set to co-star is Phoebe Tonkin, who plays werewolf Hayley in the supernatural drama.
According to Entertainment Weekly, the new show's pilot will air on April 25. If it receives a full series order, "The Vampire Diaries" executive producer Julie Plec will work on both programs.
"The Vampire Diaries" premiered in 2009. The series is based on the young-adult book series by L.J. Smith and stars Nina Dobrev, Ian Somerhalder and Paul Wesley.
