Kate Beckinsale is in talks to star in Eliza Graves as the titular inhabitant of a mental institution.
The Underworld actress has been approached to take the title role in the forthcoming movie, which will be directed by Brad Anderson.
If she accepts the role, the actress will portray a patient in a mental institution which has been taken over by its inmates. She quickly catches the eye of a new Harvard Medical School graduate, but the man has no idea the hospital is not what it seems.
The script for the film has been written by Joe Gangemi, and has been lossely adapted from Edgar Allan Poe's 1845 short story, 'The System Of Doctor Tarr and Professor Fether'.
The filmmaker - who is best known for the Halle Berry-starring thriller 'The Call' - is hoping to begin shooting the film in June in Bulgaria.
Beckinsale was most recently seen in cinemas in 'Total Recall' and she recently completed work on 'The Trials Of Cate McCall'.
It is not yet known who is in line to play the medical graduate.
