William Shatner will be forced to miss Star Trek co-star Leonard Nimoy funeral on Sunday because of a prior commitment that will leave no time for him to travel cross-country and arrive in time for the memorial service.

Shatner had a commitment to attend a charity ball in Floriday Saturday night, while Nimoy's burial is happening in California.

“I am currently in FL as I agreed to appear at the Red Cross Ball tonight. Leonard’s funeral is tomorrow. I can’t make it back in time,” the 83-year-old wrote on Twitter.

'Star Trek' Star Leonard Nimoy Dead At Age 83
Leonard Nimoy, the idol of millions of "trekkies" who worshiped his iconic character of the logical human-alien first officer of the Starship Enterprise, Mr. Spock, died on Friday morning at his home in Bel Air. He was 83.

His wife, Susan Bay Nimoy, confirmed his death, saying the cause was end-stage chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.

Mr. Nimoy announced last year that he had the disease. He revealed it was caused by his many years of smoking. Nimoy had given up his habit almost 30 years earlier. The actor tweeted on Jan. 14, 2014, that he had lung disease.

Fans of 90s alternative pop band Sugar Ray and its lead singer Mark McGrath received quite a scare this morning courtesy of a Los Angeles PR firm, but it turned out to be just another Hollywood publicity stunt.

A company called "We Are Prismatics" sent out a mass email with the subject of "Media Alert" and proceed to report that the singer of hits including "Fly" and "Every Morning" had been shot and killed.

Korean pop star wannabe Ahn Sojin took her own life on Tuesday. According to various reports, the 22-year-old singer, who was a contestant on reality show "Project KARA," was found unconscious in the garden of her apartment complex in Daegu. 'American Horror Story' Star Ben Woolf Dies From Head Injury
Actor Ben Woolf, most known for his role in "American Horror Story: Freak Show," died after being struck by a car on Thursday night.

The actor, who was 4'4" and had pituitary dwarfism, was walking across the street in Hollywood when he was hit in the head by the mirror of a passing SUV. Woolf was taken to a nearby hospital, had surgery and was thought to be out of danger, but he died on Monday after suffering a stroke, according to TMZ.com.

Police did not charge the driver of the SUV because Woolf was reportedly jaywalking.

Julia Roberts' mother reportedly died of lung cancer on Thursday. Betty Lou Motes passed away at a health center in Santa Monica, Calif., acccording to In Touch. She was 80 years old.

Motes had reportedly been living with the actress, her husband and three children in their Los Angeles home.

Veteran CBS news reporter Bob Simon was killed in a car accident Wednesday night in New York City.

The 73-year-old 60 Minutes correspondent died at St. Luke's hospital after the Lincoln Town Car he was in collided with a Mercedes on Manhattan's West Side Highway.

The driver of the Mercedes, 23-year-old Zachery Miller, told the New York Post that the Town Car looked to have lost control before it hit him while he was at a stoplight.

Hip-Hop mogul Suge Knight may have just killed a man in a hit and run.

The incident began last night on a movie shoot in Compton, featuring Dr. Dre and Ice Cube. Knight drove on to the set, where a physical altercation began between him and two unknown men.

After the fight broke out, Knight got back into his car and fled the scene- but in driving away, he ran over and killed another man.
