Beloved British crime author Ruth Rendell, most known for her Inspector Wexford novels, has died at 85, her publicist confirmed on Saturday. The cause of the writer's death is unknown; however, she was admitted to the hospital in January after having a stroke.

The family said in a statement, "It is with great sadness that the family of author Ruth Rendell, Baroness Rendell of Babergh, CBE, announce that she passed away in London at 8 a.m. on Saturday May 2, aged 85. The family have requested privacy at this time."

Pharrell Williams Is Turning 'Happy' Into A Children's Book
Pharrell Williams is writing four picture books for children. The first book in the series is set for publication by Putnam in September and will be inspired by his smash hit "Happy," which was featured in the animated film "Despicable Me 2."

The book will center on images of children around the world who are "celebrating what it means to be happy," according to Billboard. The initial print run will include 250,000 copies.

"Happy" was nominated for Best Original Song at the 2014 Academy Awards and won two awards at this year's Grammys: Best Pop Solo Performance and Best Music Video.

The author actually completed the novel during the mid-1950s, but her editor convinced her to take the book's character -- a grown-up Scout Finch -- and use parts of her backstory for what would ultimately become "To Kill A Mockingbird."

Alec Baldwin Is Writing A Tell-All Memoir?
Alec Baldwin might not seem like the ideal memoir-writing celebrity. Let's be honest here- the word "memoir" invites gravitas, the kind of gravitas a James Earl Jones or Martin Scorcese might bring.

Gravitas aside, Baldwin does have a memoir on the way. The book, which will be entitled "Nevertheless," will be published by Harper (a part of HarperCollins) and will release in 2016.
