Thanks to Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Science President Cheryl Boone Isaacs, cinematographer Dick Poop is quickly becoming a household name.

News outlets and movie fans tuned in early Thursday morning for the announcement of this year's Oscar nominees, held at the Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills, Calif., and as Isaacs, who announced this year's noms along with Chris Pine and directors Alfonso Cuaron and J.J. Early this morning, actor Chris Pine, Academy President Cheryl Boone Isaacs, and directors Alfonso Cuarón and J.J. Abrams announced the nominations for the 87th Academy Awards at the Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills, Calif.

"Birdman" and "The Grand Budapest Hotel" led the list with nine nominations each. The Oscars will air live on Feb. 22.

"Star Wars" director J.J. Abrams, his "Star Trek" leading man Chris Pine and filmmaker Alfonso Cuaron will reveal the nominations for the 87th Academy Awards on Thursday, Jan. 15.

Abrams and Cuaron will announce the first group of nominees in the categories of animated feature film, documentary feature, documentary short subject, film editing, original song, production design, animated short film, sound editing, sound mixing and visual effects at 5:30 a.m. local time in Los Angeles at the Academy's Samuel Goldwyn Theater.

Legendary entertainer Harry Belafonte was presented with an honorary Oscar at the Governors Awards held in Los Angeles on Saturday.

The Calypso singer was given the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award for his civil rights campaigning over the course of his life.

Belafonte accepted the award from Susan Sarandon and urged Hollywood's stars, including Keira Knightley, Emily Blunt, John Krasinski, Ron Howard and Logan Lerman, who were all present at the event, to use their fame to make the world a better place.
