Nicki Clyne Looks Back On Her 'Battlestar Galactica' Years
Next week, the Battlestar Galactica community will be coming together for Galacticon, a celebration of one of TV's most memorable sci-fi franchises. That includes actress Nicki Clyne, who played the fan favorite role of Cally in the 2004 edition of BSG, and who joined Starpulse recently to look back on her Battlestar experience.

"Having so many of the BSG gang together at GalactiCon is definitely the most exciting thing for me; it’s basically a family reunion for us," Nicki told us. "No matter that we live in different places or have moved on to other endeavors, we share something truly sp...

'Sharknado 3' Review: 'Sharknado' Has Officially Jumped The Shark

7/23/2015 6:27am EDT
Sharknado 3: Oh Hell No
For a critic, reviewing a Sharknado movie is a dream come true. Today, life says to you that fateful morning, you will watch the movie where a tornado full of sharks threatens to engulf the entire East Coast. Life has led you to this moment. Enjoy it.

I tried, life. I really did. But as much as it pains me to say it, I couldn't bring myself to enjoy Sharknado 3: Oh Hell No!. It's awful. And not the giggly, inspired kind of awful you'd expect from a movie where tornado-propelled sharks eat Jerry Springer. The kind of awful that catches you yawning and checking your watch in the middle of a ...

Michael Trucco Helps Us Preview 'Battlestar Galactica' Conventio
With San Diego Comic-Con in the rearview mirror, it's time to talk about Galacticon. In just a few weeks, Seattle will play host to Galacticon 4, a celebration of all things Battlestar Galactica as well as a few other science fiction and fantasy fandoms in the universe. Making his return to Galacticon this year is none other than our favorite Cylon, Michael Trucco, who sat down with Starpulse recently to preview Galacticon 4 and talk about some of his convention experiences.

How would he describe Galacticon? "All conventions are different in their own way, and it largely depends on who is ...

Levi Meaden
SyFy continues to add to its stable of original series with the mythological drama Olympus, which kicks off on Thursday and according to the network, will take audiences "inside the action-packed world of humans, gods and monsters."

One of the human characters in this saga is Kimon, played by Levi Meaden (who portrayed AJ Fielding in the fourth season of The Killing). We caught up with Levi last week to discuss what we should expect from Olympus and why we keep finding him in a lot of epic TV shows.

Who exactly is Kimon?

"He is a character that comes from a slave background, who has been...

'Killing Jesus' Premieres Tonight On National Geographic

3/29/2015 10:57am EDT
Killing Jesus
At an advanced screening of "Killing Jesus," the movie, based on the New York Times best-seller of the same name, author and executive producer Bill O’Reilly asked the crowd of nearly 1000 guests “ How does a poor carpenter become the most famous person in civilization?”

The movie, co-produced by Ridley Scott, Oscar-nominated director of Alien, Thelma & Louise, Gladiator and Black Hawk Down, makes it world premiere on Sunday March 29, 2015 at 8:00 pm/7:00 pm central on the National Geographic Channel.

Following the screening I spoke one-on-one with O’Reilly and the film’s cast. When I as...

'12 Monkeys' Takes Amanda Schull To Number 1

Amanda Schull
SyFy's 12 Monkeys has been one of the biggest surprises of the new TV season: a smart, legitimately suspenseful science-fiction thriller that's already blown the movie out of the water. Within that, one of the best things about it is that its main ensemble is comprised entirely of actors who've been doing tremendous work elsewhere and are now really getting a chance to shine.

One of those is Amanda Schull, who won us over as hard-charging lawyer Katrina Bennett on USA's Suits, and is now playing a strong woman of a different kind as Dr. Cassandra Railly, the woman who may hold the future o...

Is '12 Monkeys' Worth Your Time?

'12 Monkeys' Might Be Worth Your Time
(Warning: Spoilers ahead for the first two episodes of 12 Monkeys.)

The concept of time travel, when taken to a certain extent in a fictional narrative, can break your brain. When characters start talking about paradoxes, and how time isn't actually linear, I normally have to talk myself down with something on Bravo. Syfy's small screen adaption of Terry Gilliam's twisty 1995 flick (which itself was inspired by a French sci-fi short from the early 60s) dumbs it down enough for the regular folks, but keeps it interesting with some sharp performances and just enough mystery to keep you tunin...

Aaron Stanford And Amanda Schull Team Up For '12 Monkeys'

Aaron Stanford And Amanda Schull Team Up For '12 Monkeys'
SyFy's 12 Monkeys might be a nightmarish scenario, but it's also a TV fan's dream. Heading the cast of the time-travel thriller are favorite faces Aaron Stanford (Nikita's Seymour Birkhoff) and Amanda Schull (Suits' Katrina Bennett), alongside Noah Bean (Nikita's Ryan Fletcher), Kirk Acevedo (Fringe's Charlie Francis) and Emily Hampshire (Rookie Blue's Celery). Even if you don't like science-fiction, this one's a must-see just for the cast.

We checked in with Aaron and Amanda earlier this week to talk about how 12 Monkeys relates to the film versions, and what it was like for these two und...

Early Preview: SyFy's '12 Monkeys'

Early Preview: Aaron Stanford Mesmerizes In SyFy's '12 Monkeys'
Aaron Stanford electrifies in SyFy's reboot of Bruce Willis' 1995 action flick, '12 Monkeys.' It is rare in a pilot for an actor to hit a character so completely and so perfectly. However, in '12 Monkeys,' Aaron amazingly hits every single possible nuance, note and facet of his character from start to finish. He was great as nerdy hacker Birkhoff in 'Nikita,' but in '12 Monkeys,' he's mesmerizing. During New York Comic Con, I caught a sneak preview of the pilot episode.

At the basic level, '12 Monkeys' follows a post-apocalyptic earth in the year 2043. Desperate to avoid a population-reduc...

Interview: SyFy's 'Bitten' Cast Bites Into the Big Apple

SyFy's 'Bitten' Cast Bites Into the Big Apple
Interviewing the cast of SyFy's 'Bitten' was one of my New York Comic Con highlights. I loved Kelley Armstrong's original novel 'Bitten,' which the TV show surrounds. The first season surrounds fledgling werewolf Elena (Laura Vandervoort) who avoids both the pack that 'raised' her and her longtime pack lover, Clay (Greyston Holt). Although bitten a decade ago, Elena prefers a human existence with her human lover, Philip, until a series of murders near her pack's home calls her back. The rest of the season features Elena's relationships with her fellow pack members including confidant Logan ...
