'Sharknado 3' Review: 'Sharknado' Has Officially Jumped The Shark

7/23/2015 6:27am EDT
Sharknado 3: Oh Hell No
For a critic, reviewing a Sharknado movie is a dream come true. Today, life says to you that fateful morning, you will watch the movie where a tornado full of sharks threatens to engulf the entire East Coast. Life has led you to this moment. Enjoy it.

I tried, life. I really did. But as much as it pains me to say it, I couldn't bring myself to enjoy Sharknado 3: Oh Hell No!. It's awful. And not the giggly, inspired kind of awful you'd expect from a movie where tornado-propelled sharks eat Jerry Springer. The kind of awful that catches you yawning and checking your watch in the middle of a ...

Benicio Del Toro Might Be The Next Big 'Star Wars' Villain

7/22/2015 2:47am EDT
Benicio Del Toro
Benicio del Toro is the latest actor to join the Star Wars franchise. According to The Wrap, the Puerto Rican actor is negotiating to join the upcoming Star Wars: Episode VIII. It seems he's not a lock just yet- The Wrap reports that del Toro has been offered a major role in the sequel, but he's yet to officially say "yes." Still, it's Star Wars- who'd really say no?

We barely know anything about Star Wars: Episode VIII (heck, we barely know anything about The Force Awakens, and that one hits theaters in a couple months), but we do know the barest of bare bones about the character del Toro...

Is 'Trainwreck' The Best Comedy Of The Summer?

7/21/2015 7:44am EDT
'Trainwreck' Is A Hilarious Anti-Romantic Comedy
‘Trainwreck’ (starring Amy Schumer, written by Amy Schumer and directed by Judd Apatow) is the best film of the summer. The script is well written; the lead is well acted and the film is full of cameos/co-starring roles featuring comedy insiders (Tim Meadows, Bill Hader, Colin Quinn, Matthew Broderick). ‘Trainwreck’ is an anti-romantic comedy and commentary on the current post-Millenial focus on physical connection over emotional and intellectual ones.

‘Trainwreck’ follows Amy, a writer for a trendy lad magazine, as she juggles work responsibility with her father’s aging. Along the way, it...

Did 'Ant-Man' Live Up To Marvel’s Expectations?

7/20/2015 12:12pm EDT
'Ant-Man's Debut Smaller Than Other Marvel Titles, But Still Top
The smallest superhero ever loomed large at the U.S. box office this past weekend.

Marvel's 'Ant-Man' debuted to an estimated $58 million, taking first place over Universal's 'Minions', which brought in $50 million.

Still, that tally is a bit smaller than other recent Marvel films. The debut of 'Thor' and 'Captain America' both brought in $65 million back in 2011. You'd have to go back to 2008's 'The Incredible Hulk' and its $55 million to find a film that performed worse on its opening weekend.

The lower number was expected by some, however, given the less serious nature of the superher...

Olivia Munn Says 'X-Men: Apocalypse' Costume Is 'Very Sexual'

Olivia Munn 'Popped The Crotch' On Her 'X-Men' Costume On The Fi
Olivia Munn is looking pretty hot in her purple Psylocke costume from next year's X-Men: Apocalypse, which was revealed earlier this week on the cover of Entertainment Weekly.

The actress appears in character on the magazine's latest issue along with Michael Fassbender as Magneto and Oscar Isaac as the villain Apocalypse; and Munn's costume for the film is similar to the one her comic book counterpart wears, something she calls "very sexual" -- but don't think that means she's not badass.

"Psylocke's outfit or uniform or suit or whatever you want to call it is very sexual," she tells EW. ...

Does Marvel Make Ant-Man Cool?

7/17/2015 8:35pm EDT
Ant-Man
I had giant sized hopes for ‘Ant-Man,’ but this film was a series of failed expectations. It had everything going for it – everyman hero Paul Rudd as the lead; hilarious comedienne Judy Greer as a co-star; the hilarious screenwriters of ‘Hot Fuzz’ (Joseph Murray Cornish, Edgar Wright) and ‘Anchorman’ (Adam McKay) on staff; the same production team that oversaw previous Marvel hits - ‘Iron Man’ and ‘Guardians of the Galaxy‘; as well as the most imaginative director possible, Peyton Reed (check out his uber-ironic directing style in ‘Down With Love’). I figured that if anyone could make a one...
